Michael and Angela are serving with Bridge Builders Network
We seek to build bridges of friendship with our refugee neighbors from Syria & Afghanistan.
Each refugee has their own story of trauma, fleeing, and adjusting to a new life in America. We have joined Bridge Builders Network to learn more about trauma care and to love each refugee we meet with God's abundant love.
San Diego has the highest number of Syrians in America. There are also a large number of refugees from other countries, including Afghanistan. Our goal is to support them holistically as they make their home in this city: physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. Trauma disrupts all areas of life. There are a lot of needs and we believe that as followers of Jesus we are called to respond to those hurting among us.
Ways we are supporting refugees: teaching conversational English, providing trauma care, playing soccer with refugee youth, listening to their stories, drinking copious amounts of tea and together exploring the abundant life Jesus longs for each of us to experience - full of love, healing, freedom, peace, and joy. The kingdom of God being realized here on earth as it is in heaven.
Thank you for partnering with us!
